If I lived during the time of Lincoln's assassination I would have thought that the Southern States still had harsh feelings towards the Northern States from losing the Civil War, and having all of their land destroyed. Also, I would have thought that they were trying to overthrow the Government and try to take control and change the nation drastically. I also would have thought what are we going to do now without a President. Obviously the Vice President now takes control but Abraham Lincoln was the man who got us through the Civil War, he kept his cool while the nation was ripping itself apart, there can't be anyone, not even the Vice President, to step into that role and be as good as Lincoln. Not even a new President could fulfill that role.

\n2.) Lincoln's assassination and 9\/11 were similar events in respect that they both brought the nation together during a time of suffering for losses. In another perspective they were different because in 9\/11 it was a massive amount of lives taken and Abraham Lincoln was only 1 person. However, I beleive that the intense response to both events was similar and that they were both handled in similar matters. Abraham Lincoln's assassination was most likely mourned for quite a long time and I am sure there are still remembrences going on in this time. 9\/11 will be remembered for a very long time because of the horror that struck hundreds of thousands of people. I don't think that Lincoln's assassination was as big a scale as 9\/11.

Lincoln might have been one man, but many people respected him and thought he was a great person, while the trade towers meant a lot to this country and the feeling of being safe from the world crumbled and many people worried about being safe again. \n-the majority of the southern population if not all give a loyalty oath to the country as a whole (part of the Wade-Davis Bill twisted to fit my liking)
\n-give African Americans rigts (Radical Republicans)
\nThe reason why i agree with that the majority if not the whole population of the south is that you should have the whole south agreeing to the policy\/oath and not just a small amount of the population. Also whats stopping everyone that didnt take the oath (90% of the population)breaking it. Also, his plan did not include to give African Americans full rights as Americans. Johnson`s plan was a little tougher on the south but was still too soft, because even though the high officials made the plans, the common man of the south joined fully behind them to go against the constitution and fight and kill many soldiers. Also, Johnson`s plan like Lincoln`s did not include full rights for African Americans, with is one of the main reasons we fought the war.
